Hey, my Blossomer's! Let’s talk about it.
The sacred, mysterious, possibly overhyped 7-step morning skincare routine.
So, there I was this morning—standing in the bathroom mirror, channeling my inner skincare guru, slathering layer after layer of promise and hope onto my face like I had nothing but time, money, and zero bills. And I had to ask myself:
“Am I evolving… or am I just over-exfoliating?”
You know the one: Cleanse, tone, serum, eye cream, moisturizer, SPF, spritz rosewater, and affirm your life choices as you pat your face dry with a towel that (hopefully) doesn’t smell like last week’s laundry.
It’s marketed as self-care, luxury, the golden ticket to your “that girl” era. But let’s be honest—when your alarm goes off at 6:30 a.m. and your face is still halfway in the pillow, does anyone actually want to do seven skin-care things to their face?
Welcome to the world of the 7-step morning face routine, where your skin might be glowing, but your bank account is screaming—and your to-do list hasn’t even had coffee yet.
Let’s break it down, step by boujee step (It’s Okay, because we’re leveling-up):
Step One: Cleanse (a.k.a. The Reality Check)
We start with a gentle cleanser, usually accompanied by some soft R&B in the background and the faith that this will be the day everything changes. You’re cleaning with a purpose!
Step Two: Toner (Is This Step Even Necessary?)
This is the skincare equivalent of texting your ex: you don’t need to do it, but you’re curious. Toner is either a refreshing mist of botanical luxury—or just expensive water. It depends on your budget and your delusion level. It even depends on that sales rack at Ulta.
Step Three: Serum (The “I’m Serious About My Life” Step)
Serums are those tiny dropper bottles that cost way too much and claim to have your whole future inside. Collagen? Glow? Youth in a bottle? I don’t know what’s in mine anymore, but it tingles and makes me feel like I have goals.
Step Four: Eye Cream (To Hide the Hustle)
These under-eye bags are not designer; they’re not even the knock-off Temu standards. They’re sponsored by “I stayed up too late trying to manifest.” Eye cream promises to undo years of adulting—and if that isn’t a metaphor for all of us, I don’t know what will be.
Step Five: Moisturizer (The Main Character)
This is your dependable friend. The one who comes through when no one else does. Thick, rich, and ready to hold you together while the rest of your life crumbles like expired toner pads. Keeps the ‘dryness’ at bay, so that you confidently take today’s tasks and crush them with a slight glow.
Step Six: SPF (Because Aging Is Real)
Let’s not play—we are not about to work this hard on glowing skin just to let the sun come in and gentrify it. Protect your peace, your melanin, and your skin's health.
Step Seven: The Rose Water midst; Motivation or Madness?
A spritz of rosewater, just to lock it all in! By the time you ‘re finish with step seven, you’re either feeling like a self-made mogul in the making… or just moisturized, late, and slightly annoyed. Either way, you look great.
So… does it help, or is it just skincare capitalism with a side of false hope?
The truth: It’s both.
If it makes you feel good, grounded, and like you’re pouring into yourself—do it. But if your “self-care” routine starts to feel more like one more obligation, it might be time to scale it back and let your soul breathe.
Growth isn’t always about doing the most. Sometimes it’s choosing peace over pressure. Sometimes it’s slapping on some moisturizer and going about your business with a dewy glowing face and an even more glow of confidence.
Now you tell me:
Is your morning routine helping you evolve, or just helping you stall? Do you love your skincare routine—or have you found power in keeping it simple?
Drop your thoughts in the comments—I want to know who’s still toning, who’s tossed the toner, and who’s doing it all with a side of manifestation mist. Let’s talk about it, Let’s get the convo started! šš
I'll add some good moisturizers I've either used in the past or am currently using or I've heard good things about. I hope you find one that works perfectly for your skin!
